About Abby Marateck [She/Her]

I will be spending time getting to know you so here's a little bit about me. I have a B.A. in Anthropology and Theatre from Vanderbilt University, an MFA in Directing from Brooklyn College and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I spent many years as a stage director and credit that as being my first experience studying the psychology and motives of people. After the birth of my first child, I decided to change careers and enrolled in graduate school. While at Pepperdine, I became interested in grief and loss and did my practicum at Onelegacy (a Donate Life organization) in Los Angeles. I also have extensive training in perinatal mood disorders and maternal mental health. Adjusting to motherhood was a difficult transition for me, but helped to inspire me to do the work I do today. I am fully certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) - a proven method to help couples reconnect and resolve conflict. This certification included an externship, a year of Core Skills Training, more than 4 years of supervision and recognition by the ICEEFT Board.

I have been married for 20 years, have 2 boys [ages 15 and 11], 2 cats, a dog and a hamster. I love listening to podcasts, going to see live music, playing the piano and learning languages.

Let's work together to help you feel better - to grow, heal, and change
